Principal's Welcome Message

It is with much enthusiasm and great pleasure that I warmly welcome all students to the Accra City Campus of the University of Ghana, the country’s premier university and one of Africa’s most reputable universities. In welcoming you, I wish to bring to your attention, the relevance, vision and mission of this growing  and highly esteemed academic unit of the University of Ghana.

Located at the heart of the national capital and precisely at Adabraka and opposite the Ministry of Information, the Accra City Campus was established as an academic unit in the 1963/1964 season, under the defunct Accra Worker’s College. Formerly called the External Degree Centre, its responsibility was to offer, on part-time basis, courses that were available to only full-time students of the premier University.

With approval of the University of Ghana Council, the Accra City Campus was established in 2003 and inaugurated in February 2004, to replace the External Degree Centre. It is a non-residential and fee-paying facility. Since 2006, the Campus has contributed greatly to satisfying the ever-increasing national demand to expand admission opportunities to absorb a large number of qualified Senior High School graduates into universities in Ghana. At present, the Campus focuses on undergraduate training and education and enrolls students to pursue first degree programmes in Arts, Business Administration, Social Sciences and lately Education. Its academic programmes are run with teaching faculty from the main campus of the University of Ghana. Read more ......
